新东方的老俞在TOEFL词汇串讲中说“…we’re building something for eternity”，我做了一点小小的考证，去查找这句话的出处。

然后这句话变变成了我博客的motto。

我们来到世上，都有各自追求的东西，有人爱名，有人爱利，有人爱美丽。然而，富兰克林在《哨子》中给我们敲响了警钟：我们是否为不值得的东西付出了过高的代价呢？我们在追求上的不同很大程度上反映了价值观的差异，从而也导致了交流的障碍。包容是必须的，尊重别人也是希望得到别人的尊重——哪怕不认可对方；然而歧视却又是无可避免的，价值观上的差异必定会导致互相的歧视。

如果我认为我追求的是有价值的，那么它也将是永恒的。希望你同我一样，认为你做的事情也是有长久意义的，不会为一些不值得的事情付出过高的代价。

我很喜欢孔尚任的《桃花扇》中的一段话“眼看他起朱楼，眼看他宴宾客，眼看他楼塌了！这青苔碧瓦堆，俺曾睡风流觉，将五十年兴亡看饱。那乌衣巷不姓王，莫愁湖鬼夜哭，凤凰台栖枭鸟。”某些事物的兴衰可能会随着时代的改变而变化。但我仍然相信，这个世界是有一些注定只能被少数人所能欣赏，而随着时代改变不会褪色的东西，或许这就是我所追求的“永恒”吧。
