Moon River
by Steven
而他的博客名字是A lonely drifter off to see the world,让我联想起了曾经在课堂上学过的Andy Williams的Moon River这首歌中的一句歌词”Two drifters off to the world……”,一首优美的歌,却成为了一个轻生者的心声。

Moon river, wider than a mile
I’m crossing you in style some day
Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker
Wherever you’re goin’, i’m goin’ your way
two drifters, off to see the world
there’s such a lot of world to see
we’re after the same rainbow’s end, waitin”round the bend
my huckleberry friend, moon river, and me
(moon river, wider than a mile)
(I’m crossin’ you in style some day)
oh, dream maker, you heart breaker
wherever you’re goin’, I’m goin’ your way
two drifters, off to see the world
there’s such a lot of world to see
We’re after that same rainbow’s end, waitin”round the bend
my huckleberry friend, moon river, and me
(moon river, moon river)
“Moon River” is a song composed by Johnny Mercer (Lyrics) and Henry Mancini (Music) in 1961, for whom it won that year’s Academy Award for Best Original Song. It is most well-known for being sung in the movie Breakfast at Tiffany’s by Audrey Hepburn, although it has been covered by many other artists.
An inlet near Savannah, Georgia, Johnny Mercer’s hometown, was named “Moon River” in honor of this song. Andy Williams, who recorded the song, named his production company and venue in Branson, Missouri after “Moon River”.
The success of the song was responsible for re-launching Mercer’s career as a songwriter, which had stalled in the mid-1950s because rock and roll replaced jazz standards as the popular music of the time.
Lyrics
The phrase “Huckleberry friend” was explained by Mercer in an interview with Terry Gross on National Public Radio’s “Fresh Air”. In his childhood, Mercer would go collect huckleberries with friends along the river, thus it is a nostalgic reference to childhood.]]>
